Fathom Robotics is an FRC team that was founded for the students. We needed a team that was focused on student based learning, driven towards a common goal, and worked with all team members other obligations. Our founding members were all members of other FIRST teams, competitive sports, or dual-enrolled students. We knew that in order to make our team a success we had to be self-motivated while working towards a common goal. We knew we would not be a traditional team and meet daily after school. We had to trust each other to meet individual deadlines we set for ourselves. When we did meet in person we remained focused putting in many 12hr days on our weekends off.
Our name represents our home on the Emerald coast of Florida. On the panhandle we have beautiful beaches, emerald green waters, and plentiful fishing. The Florida panhandle is home to the The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village, Destin, Fl. This is because of it’s unique geographical location to the 100 fathom curve. This is the closest and fastest access to the deep waters of the gulf! We felt that this uniqueness matched our identity as a team. We wanted to represent our home in a way that would be inclusive to all gulf counties and something everyone could relate to.
