Coach Adam
My journey with FIRST began in 2018 when my daughter joined the Tech Turtles 10179 as a 6th grader. What started as simply supporting her quickly grew into something much bigger. The excitement of competition, the challenges of each season, and the incredible opportunities for learning drew our whole family in—and we’ve been hooked ever since.
Being involved parents with FTC 10179 only fueled the desire to do more. In 2021, I began mentoring and coaching several FTC teams, including Short Circuits 14708, Zero Logic 14707, Dog Bites 22218, and Radical Raiders 16626. That same year, I had the privilege of helping launch FRC Team 8788 Special Forces Ballistabots at Crestview High School. A couple of years later, in 2023, we expanded that vision and founded FRC Team 9787 Fathom Robotics, a community team where students from multiple schools and counties can come together and compete as one.
For me, robotics is about much more than robots. My passion is leadership, communication, and teamwork. I believe there are already plenty of “bosses” out there—what our world truly needs are leaders. While competitions test and strengthen teams in the moment, the real foundation of trust and teamwork is built day by day, all year long. That’s the heart of what keeps me coming back season after season.
I am an Aussie in Florida, Educator, Dad, Husband, and “Jack of all Trades”.
My wife and I along with our three children have had adventures across three continents so far! Our love for discovering out of the norms has allowed for some truly life changing experiences.
For over a decade I coordinated camp and recreation programs for special needs populations in three countries, completed a Bachelor of Teaching, enlisted in the Australian Army Reserves; since then, I embarked on various leadership training roles in transport and logistics, manufacturing, business development, education and possibly the most challenging and rewarding; being a Dad. In all of these roles I discovered my true passion is PEOPLE. Learning, living, and training to be the change with others, FIRST Robotics has definitely provided this opportunity.
My involvement with FIRST Robotics began in 2021-2022, through supporting my son's 3 year involvement in their middle school FLL team (Robolts #49790). I then helped found a community FTC Team (Capybara Crusaders #23831) in season 2023-24 which has since developed into a High school Team and program (Catastrophic Ramifications #26038), and two community FLL Challenge teams (Budgie Bots #62295 and Kanga Bots #65133) and one Explorer Team (Walkabout Explorers #33953). Now im proud to be contributing to FRC team Fathom Robotics #9787 accomplishments as Coach/mentor.
It doesn’t matter if it was a Lego project with my children or a multi-million dollar saving waste reduction program, I am alive when I discover and share!

I grew up in FIRST, beginning in late elementary school and continuing through high school, where I had the opportunity to both participate on and mentor several teams across our region. In middle school, I joined FTC Team 10179, the Tech Turtles, which sparked my passion for robotics. As a freshman, I became a member of FTC Team 16626, the Radical Raiders, and helped found FRC Team 8788, the Special Forces Ballistabots.
Over the course of six years in FTC, I gained amazing experiences and was honored to be recognized as a Florida Dean’s List Finalist in 2023. During my senior year I helped found FRC Team 9787, Fathom Robotics, a community-based team created to give students of all backgrounds a safe and supportive space to learn and grow.
The mission behind creating Fathom Robotics was to build a safe, inclusive space for students from all backgrounds to gain valuable life skills. We believed—and still believe—that FIRST is so much more than just robots. It is about creating opportunities for students to excel, grow, and discover their potential through teamwork, leadership, and innovation.
Today, I mentor four FTC teams and two FRC teams, continuing to help students grow in STEM, leadership, and collaboration. My mission is to expand FIRST into more rural communities—especially increasing FTC representation in lower Alabama—while also reaching students across Florida and Georgia. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry and Wildlife Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University, where I serve as President of the FIRST Alumni Club, working to connect and support alumni while carrying forward my passion for growing FIRST.
I’ve been involved in FIRST robotics for two years. I was a part of Team 16626 Radical Raiders, and at the same time, I helped found Team 9787 Fathom Robotics. From the start, I discovered a passion for design, CAD, fabrication, and construction. I love turning ideas into fully functioning robots. I am continuing to sail with Fathom Robotics as a mentor, supporting students as they learn, grow, and navigate through the rough seas of competition.
I graduated from Collegiate High School with my AA degree and am currently studying Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. I am certified in SolidWorks and fluent in Onshape and Fusion 360, which allows me to bring professional-level design skills to the team. Outside of robotics, I wrestled for eight years, an experience that taught me discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.
As a mentor, I encourage students to push the limits of their ideas and explore their full potential—design anything, prototype everything… and if it works, no touchy touchy! I guide them through CAD, fabrication, and construction, helping turn bold, outlandish, and “impossible” concepts into real, functioning robots. In the process, they grow as confident creators, problem-solvers, and innovators, learning that the sky isn’t the limit—it’s just the beginning.

My name is Roger Coulther and I've been a mentor and volunteer in FIRST robotics for two years. Three years ago my son was involved in FLL (Lego league) through his school. At one of the competitions we decided to walk across the street while on lunch break and see what the next level of FIRST had to offer and we discovered FTC (Tech challenge). From that day our family was hooked on FIRST and knew we wanted to be a part of it!
I have been a mentor for Fathom Robotics since 2023 as well as mentoring for two FTC teams, the Capybara Crusaders (#23831) and the Catastrophic RAMifications (#26038).
I am a commercial/residential HVAC Technician/Installer. I completed the General Motors ASEP program at Florida State College of Jacksonville and I am an ASE certified master technician. With this experience in the automotive and HVAC fields I feel I have a wide range of knowledge to pass on and facilitate with the education of these young men and women. I hope I will be fortunate enough to be involved with FIRST robotics for many years to come and help these students achieve their goals and grow, not only in the field of robotics but as gracious human beings.
